We Believe

We believe that being a Christian is about relationships, not empty religion. It's about a relationship with God through faith in his Son, Jesus, and it's about relationships with fellow believers through a local New Testament church. (1 John 3:23-24, James 1:27)

We believe God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh, and that according to the Bible the earth is about 6,000 years old. This truth is supported by good science and is evidenced by studying creation. (If your curious, ask my husband. He loves this kind of stuff!) (Genesis 1, Exodus 20:11, Jeremiah 10:12)

We believe that all people are born sinners, and that all sinners need a Savior. God sent Jesus to earth to be the only man who never sinned. By dying on the cross, Jesus took our punishment for sin upon himself, and by coming back to life, he defeated death and made it possible for us to live eternally with God.  (Ecclesiastes 7:20, Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 15:3, 1 Peter 1:3-5)

We believe that Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ as the one and only Son of God. Salvation is a gift offered to all people by God's grace, but it must be accepted by inwardly believing and outwardly confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord.   (Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 10:9-10)

We believe that the Bible is not just a book; it's the living, breathing Word of God. It's completely correct, completely true, and completely applicable to everyone, regardless of race, culture, age, or gender. (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe that God is three persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God is just so great that he can be all three persons and still be one God; and we believe that people are just so small that we can't fully understand this truth. (1 John 5:7, John 1:1, John 10:30, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We believe faith without works is dead, and that God has ordained that we do his work on earth in local church bodies. As Christians we need encouragement, support, correction, discipline, and love from our church family. However, we recognize that not all churches are created equal. Each Christian needs to examine for himself the doctrines of his church, making sure they are scriptural and right. (James 2:14-17, Hebrews 10:25, Colossians 3:13-17)

We believe that Christ is coming soon, and that we need to be ready! Our greatest hope as Christians is that Jesus Christ will come again and that we will join him in Heaven, praising God and giving glory to Him with our lives for eternity. We will stand before God one day, and we want to be able to say that we spent our time on earth following Jesus' example: loving others, hating sin, and preaching the gospel. (Revelation 22:20, John 14:1-4)

*While this is not an exhaustive list of what we believe, hopefully it's enough that you can tell we believe the Bible and love the Truth. What to know more? Just ask! There is no greater question than the one that pertains to eternity.
