The BEST Bacon Cheddar Burger {Recipe}

8.09.2014

I kind of feel like hamburgers are just one of those foods you hardly need a recipe for. Everyone has their own special way of doing it and since I'm NOT a food blogger, I kind of feel silly sharing my own recipe. However, after making these several times and sharing them with others, I think these are too good not to share. Seriously.

My favorite part is that while they are BIG on bacon flavor, they only require two pieces for the whole pound of meat! Good bacon is expensive so I try to make the most of it by using it to add flavor instead of making it the center of the meal. Add in the caramelized onions and you've got yourself on reallllly good burger.

Bacon Cheddar Burgers {with Caramelized Onions}

1 lb beef
2 slice of uncooked bacon, diced
2 Tbsp Worchestershire sauce
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1 egg
4 slices of cheese
1 onion, sliced

1. Mix beef, diced bacon, Worchestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and egg in a mixing bowl. Stir to combine well. (I usually use my hands.)
2. Roll meat out on a cutting board and make a log shape. Divide into fourths.
3. Make patties by shaping each ¼ pound into a ball and flattening with your hands. (You want burgers that are slightly larger than your buns because they will shrink up as you cook them.)
4. Cook the patties on a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes per side or until cooked through. (Or grill them or whatever you want really. Just cook them.)
5. Top with cheese during the last 2 minutes of cooking. Put in a baking dish covered in foil to keep warm.
6. Once your burgers are done, sauté your onions in the hot grease over medium heat for 10 minutes or until they are a medium brown color. Serve over burgers on homemade hamburger buns.

  1. I'm definitely trying these! We love anything with bacon in this house and I never thought of putting uncooked bacon in the hamburger meat :)
