This is an issue I've been giving a lot of thought torecently, and I'd love to hear from you. Anyone had an unmediated birth? Tell me about it!

  1. I had an epidoural wth my oldest and will NEVER do that again! My middle child was unmedicated in the sense that I didn't receive pain medicine but medicated in the sense that I was induced....which I will NEVER do again unless absolutely necessary. My youngest was fully unmedicated-no induction and no pain medicine. This was by far my easiest and fastest labor. My current pregnancy will be the same- no induction and no pain medicine. It's better for baby and mommy to not agree to an induction (unless theirs a real risk to one or boths life) and to refuse pain medication. I recommend researching. Be careful though. When it comes to researching birth you'll find a lot of new age junk.

    1. Thanks Robin! You are right though. There is lots and lots of crazy stuff out there. Both of mine have been medicated (one induced), but this time I'm really hoping to do it with no medication. Sounds like the third times the charm ;)

  2. I had an unmedicated home birth with my daughter. It was definitely hard but completely worth it. By remaining at home, I was able to avoid easily many interventions that can pose health risks to either myself or my baby. I had a great support team to help me through labor as well.

    1. I would love to give birth at home or at a birthing center, but it's not an option in our area. I can't find a registered midwife within 2 hours of us! I'm praying that one day that Lord puts us in a place where we can give birth sans the hospital routine, but for now I'm just grateful for safe and healthy deliveries, even if they are less than ideal.

  3. 2 of my babies were induced at 2 weeks overdue and those labors were long and very hard. My other baby came by himself and so the labor was natural. It went much faster and I really enjoyed it unlike the other two. I did end up getting an epidural at 8 cm although the pain wasn't too bad. I thought I would probably want one during the final stage of labor and 8 cm was the latest I could get one. If I could go back, I'd skip it because all it did was stall my labor for 2 hours until it wore off and then I gave birth without an epidural anyways. I'm really hoping baby #4 doesn't need to be induced!

    1. wow! My first was 1 week overdue and they induced me, and I took an epidural within the first hour. That pitocin is no joke!
