This past weekend we took Cupcake on her first camping trip. It was so much fun!
It was a very last minute trip. Over lunch on Friday, I convinced my husband that I couldn't possibly be happy if we didn't leave right then for the great outdoors. He decided to humor me, and a few hours later we were pitching a tent, roasting stuffed peppers, and enjoying the sunshine.
Of course, camping with babies isn't exactly easy, but it's worth the extra work involved. You just have to accept that fact that they are going to eat some dirt, and you probably aren't going to sleep very well. It's all part of the fun!
I love laying in bed and looking up at the stars, a cool breeze blowing through the trees, surrounded by the most important people in my life. It's easy to be joyful and full of worship, even when things don't go quite like you planned.
FYI, "Franklin the Turtle" is my absolute favorite cartoon and you can watch entire episodes on YouTube. Win!
So if you're in need of a little R&R, go outside and pitch a tent! The heavens declare the glory of God. The world is full of his handiwork. Enjoy it! Breathe deep and be joyful!

Saw your facebook post on my wall and had to pop over and read it.
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! Back when my dad was alive and my two older brothers had their health, my husband and kids and I would go camping with my family.
All my brothers and sisters had trailers or tents so we would all camp together and it was so much fun. My husband's parents would come too, sometime.
I think the best part about camping is the fact that it wears the kids out, lol!
I remember one rainy camping trip my toddler went through EVERY outfit that I had packed for that weekend. It was a bad muddy weekend and we only stayed one night.
Glad you had a lovely time! :)
We used to camp regularly when our children were toddlers, but never tried it with babies. You definitely planned well, and looks like you had a great time. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteNow I am excited about camping! I might just have to convince my husband to go camping next weekend. Camping is so much fun! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun. I'm not brave enough to try camping with two little ones, but looking forward to it when my kids get older.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take bravery! Just lots of planning and patience, lol! I can't wait for my kids to be older though and really enjoy it. Right now they'd just assume play in the backyard :)
DeleteHow fun! We've avoiding backpacking and camping while our crew was little and are just getting into it again this year (now they are 8, 6, and 5) and partly wish we hadn't waited! :)
ReplyDeleteYes! I also recommend camping with babes. Camping makes for a fun, inexpensive, and memorable family vacation. Our camping vacations are still my children's favorite vacations. Thank you for getting the message out there - take your babies camping!
ReplyDeleteOh fun! Camping with kids is fabulous and so fun. Since we have a 5 week old, we set up the tent in the backyard for the kids since we won't be actually camping away from home with a newborn! :)
