Teacup: 6 Weeks Update!

2.07.2013

Well, Teacup is 6 weeks old!

Who would have thought we'd make it to 6 weeks?!?!

I didn't. Not in the beginning. I remember sitting on the couch sometime around week 2 balling my eyes out because my husband had to go back to school/work and leave me stranded, all alone, all day with two kids. I was pretty sure we weren't going to make it.

But here we are a month later and I can honestly say our life is golden! Okay, not honestly...but life isn't really as hard as I thought it was going to be. Yes, I have to make 3 trips to the car to get everybody in the house. I spend most of my day protecting Teacup from eager little boy hugs and flying foam balls. I carry a diaper bag the size of a small suitcase everywhere I go.  And I change 16 diapers a day. But really...it's not that bad!

Teacup has settled into routine during the day which is pretty predictable making it much easier for me to plan Rooster's activities around her feeding schedule. She still eats every 2-3 hours during the day and usually nurses for 30-45 minutes, but she is an all-star sleeper at night, sleeping 6 hour stretches and only waking up once to nurse! If I could just get her to go to sleep before midnight my life really would be golden.

Teacup is growing like a weed. At 10.5 lbs and {so many} inches long she maxing out those growth charts, and no, I don't actually remember how long she is. Give me a break! I've got a lot on my mind these days. I'm too busy thinking about organizing closets, blog posts, and new recipes. It may be a little late, but I think my nesting instincts have finally kicked in.  Or maybe it's the I-just-had-a-baby-so-now-my-house-is-in-shambles-and-it's-driving-me-crazy instincts. Or something like that. I just want to be out and about and busy!

However, I know the time spent rocking babies and playing with blocks is all too precious and quickly passed, so for now I'll just be content with the little things I get done here and pray that company doesn't just drop by unexpectedly! (You are welcome to come over! Just call first so I can sweep the floor and hide all the dirty laundry.)

So there you have it! I could pretty much talk all day about our sweet little girl, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words.  So I'll just leave you with a few more of those :)

The only smile I get is when she's asleep.
Silly girl!

  13. She is just so adorably cute!! Enjoy her...although these days are busy and it is hard to blog or clean, they are the best years of parenting!! I used to type one-handed because my babies used to wake up when I was writing a newsletter. Have you learned how to type one-handed yet?? You can cuddle Teacup and blog :-)
