The Cutest Little Teacup

She's Here!

Lydia Joy was born December 26th at 10:14 am, and weighed in at 8 lbs 8 oz and 18.5 inches long.  She's pretty much perfect!

We are all healthy, happy, and of course, adjusting to life as a family of four!

I'm recovering a lot more quickly this time around. We only stayed one night in the hospital, and I've been going strong since then. In fact, today was the first day since coming home that I intentionally took time to rest and stay in my pajamas all day long! A day at home in bed snuggled up with a new baby was a welcome reprieve from the visitors and busyness that have filled our home since we got out of the hospital.

Rooster seems to be adjusting well to having a new little sister. He loves to stick her pacifier in her mouth when she is sound asleep, pile blankets on top of her when I'm not looking, and push the buttons on her swing sending her on a musical roller coaster ride! Needless to say we've had several lessons in gentleness over the past few days. He's learning, but it never hurts to be too careful!

Look but Don't Touch!
Evan has stepped into his role of super dad quite nicely. He's been home with me all week and has pretty much taken over the care and keeping of Rooster. I'm not sure what we'll do when classes start back after the new year, and Evan has to go back to work. I just keep reminding myself not to borrow trouble from tomorrow (or next week) since today has enough of its own!

Troubles like getting Teacup to sleep at night instead of all afternoon and getting her to take a full feeding when she nurses instead of falling asleep and wanting to eat an hour later.  Yes, today's troubles are more than enough for me.

But so are today's blessings. I have a beautiful, healthy little girl, a busy, active little boy, and the next 18 years to figure out exactly how to do this whole parenting thing! Hopefully it won't take that long, but it's good to know I've got plenty of time :)

*Be on the look out for Teacup's birth story in the next few days! I wanted to have it all written by now, but wouldn't you know it's hard to type when you've got your hands full of little ones :)

    1. Well...if you ask my husband, she is smiling. If you ask me, I caught her yawning at just the right moment. :)
