Pregnancy Update: 18 Weeks

My Joy-Filled Life

How far along are you?  18 weeks today! I'm so excited to be getting close to our ultrasound. I've been waiting for this one with so much more urgency than I did with Rooster. I don't really care if it's a boy or girl. I just want to see her face the know she's healthy.

Prayer requests?  I've had a really tough few weeks. I feel pretty discouraged most days. Rooster and I are continuing to have problems nursing, and I feel so overwhelmed at trying to wean him. I'm not ready. He's not ready. Yet, here we are, so we are going to make the best of it.

Baby's growth?  The baby is the size of a sweet potato (5.5 in, 5 oz).

Medical Stuff?  We go to the doctor next Tuesday and she is going to schedule our ultrasound.

Movement?  Yes and no. I've felt what I'm pretty sure is movement, but I'm not feeling much regularly yet. I skipped the whole butterfly stage and have felt what I think is a kick or a tumble. I guess with this baby I'm just too busy to really stop and pay attention to movement.  I know soon enough it will be too big to ignore so I guess I'm just enjoying the reprieve for now :)

Something I'm Excited About.... I'm pretty excited about the Olympics. We don't have cable and usually limit ourselves to one "movie night" a week, but with the Olympics on the tv is pretty much fair game! My husband painstakingly adjusts our rabbit ears, and we get such good reception you wouldn't even know it's free. Let the fun begin!

  1. So happy for you in your pregnancy. The second time around really is different than the first especially when you're keeping up with a little one while pregnant. We've only got 4 weeks to go! Not sure what advice I can pass on with the weaning, Henry pretty much did it himself at 1 year. We slowly moved to all solids and one night (the last session to go) he just didn't do it. It was strangely easy. Just keep it up and listen figure out what he needs.
As far as movement, I didn't notice a whole lot in the beginning either, but middle of the 2nd and on I did every time I sat still for more than a minute (not very often until Henry's bedtime). Again, so very excited for you. I can't wait to meet our #2 so I know just how excited you must be!

  2. I will continue to pray for you regarding the nursing/weaning issue with Rooster.

Are you going to find out the gender? Can't wait to hear about how the u/s goes.

We are enjoying the Olympics here too! That seems to be our evening ritual right now.

    Blessings!
