Top Ten Blessings in Disguise
1. My sweet Baby wants to eat constantly! My 5 month old Rooster must be hitting a growth spurt because he eats every 2 hours, rain or shine, day or night. I really don't mind feeding him, but having to be at his beck and call 24 hours a day takes its toll a mom.
Blessing in Disguise: Soon he'll be eating solid foods and I'll miss this time we have together. I guess I'd better get my fill while I can. Oh and at least it's free! If he was eating this much formula I might think about putting him on a diet (just kidding, don't call the authorities!).
2. I might be addicted to sweet things. I've developed quite a sweet tooth over the last few weeks, and it's starting to get a little ridiculous! I started my day out with chocolate for breakfast. It was my reward for making my bed. I had pound cake this afternoon. It was my reward for walking the farm road. I had chocolate covered strawberries after Bible Study. It was my reward for not losing my patience with my son during Bible Study. Starting to see a pattern?
Blessing in Disguise: I made the bed, exercised, and went to Bible Study. I may eat to much sugar, but at least I'm productive.
3. We aren't sleeping well at night. It's partly because Rooster wants to eat all night, and partly because he's a pacifier addict. About every 45 mins he loses his pacifier and wakes up. My husband is great about getting up and tending to him, but it wakes me up nonetheless.
Blessing in Disguise: I pray a lot more when I'm tired, and every time the baby wakes up, I remember all those times I used to wake up at night to check if he was still breathing. Now, I don't have to get up and check! He let's me know everything is all right :)
4. I am getting old. At least that's what I was told at Wal-Mart the other day. We have a young man in our church that we've been trying to get to come to our college student Bible study. He says he doesn't want to come because he's shy. He said, "I don't mind talking to older people, but not people my own age." Wait a min! I'm 25, when did I become the "older people"? I guess it was right around Valentine's Day when my husband opted not to get my flowers or candy, but instead to point out my gray hair over dinner...yes, it was very romantic.
Blessing in Disguise: Getting older means I can grow my own little army of children to do my bidding! And my husband is one day closer to retirement...that is if he still wants me and my gray hair by then!
5. I miss Facebook. 5 days down! And 25 to go... Actually, abstaining from Facebook really isn't as hard as I thought it would be. It is very inconvenient though. I'll be talking to someone, and they'll say, "did you see on facebook....." and I have to smile and nod and pretend like I know what their talking about. I mean, I can't openly admit I've not been on Facebook...that would make me seem like a loser!
Blessing in Disguise: I now know how many people's phone numbers and email addresses I don't have. I got so used to "facebooking" people, I forget about these outmoded means of communication. Well, texting is making a comeback around here, as soon as I get your number!
6. I'm pretty sure I just flashed our neighbor. It was an accident; I promise! You see we haven't gotten the shutters put back up in my kitchen since we painted, and I was ready to feed the baby, and I needed to go get a rag, and our nice old neighbor was sweeping his carport, and well...you know the rest.
Blessing in Disguise: Maybe this will be motivation for getting those new curtains in the kitchen sooner rather than later.
7. I'm out of things to complain about. Really this isn't annoying except that this is a Top 10 List. Who gets burnt out on number 7 of a Top 10 list? I'm going to have to work pretty hard to think of 3 more things!
Blessing in Disguise: Overall my life is pretty amazing.
8. We have to make another road trip this weekend. That's the only bad part, really. We are going to a birthday part for my husband's little brother. He's turning 9 (I think). I'm not looking forward to being on the road, but I am looking forward to getting to see Evan's parents. Grandparents are the greatest!
Blessing in Disguise: I get to eat cake, and hopefully ice cream!
Side Note: I found this picture in an antique store the other day. I want to know why Rooster's grandmothers don't wear cool pink checkered dresses.
9. We have MBSF tonight. I love the students in our college ministry, but it just seems like every week I find myself wrestling a fussy baby rather than participating in the Bible study. I would just give in and stay home, but I like MBSF Bible Study. What to do? What to do?
Blessing in Disguise: If this is the toughest decision I make today, I really have nothing to complain about.
10. This list is over! That is a blessing because my husband just got home and the baby is napping. That means it's time for me to be done blogging and get on to more important things in life, like kissing! Or maybe laundry.
I don't look good in pink and checkers make look fat. Loved this post.
